About
Hayley Gerrard-Doyle
A little bit about me, why I was drawn to becoming a counsellor and some information about my training.

Hi! I’m Hayley, a qualified Person Centred Counsellor with 10 years of experience working with clients. I am NCPS Accredited and registered with the BACP. I continue to expand on my knowledge and understanding with additional regular training, courses and research - including trauma and PTSD, addiction, panic attacks, mindfulness for anxiety, art therapy and additional complimentary tools and techniques.

I was always drawn to listening to people - it would happen naturally, people seemed to open up to me and I realised I really enjoyed empathic connection with others. I started volunteering for Age UK on their dementia team - befriending and giving people with dementia the time and space to tell me their stories felt very fulfilling.

When ill health forced me to quit my fast paced job in marketing I decided to take it as an opportunity to retrain. Having accessed various counsellors and therapists over the years to process my own traumas, counselling was something I was interested in. Of all of the types of therapy I had tried I realised that I especially valued the way Person Centred counsellors had supported me in exploring my world. Having the space and freedom to explore my issues at my own pace, without judgement and whilst receiving empathy felt so valuable it was something I realised I wanted to be able to provide to others.

I continue to love this work - I feel very honoured to be trusted with my client’s inner-most thoughts and processes. Watching my clients process difficult parts of their story and go on to find pockets of peace and grow in confidence is beautiful to witness.
